The Kansas City Chiefs' season is on life support against the Los Angeles Chargers, with Andy Reid's team down 16-13 with under two minutes left and driving.

But things have gone from bad to worse for the Chiefs.

Facing a first-and-10, Patrick Mahomes rolled out to his right and tried to launch downfield, but his left leg looked like it had hyper-extended, and No. 15 was seen after the play, playing on the ground, clutching at his left knee.

The energy in the stadium was sucked out with Mahomes on the ground in pain, but in what is good news, Patrick was able to get up and walk off the field under his own power.

And now it is up to Gardner Minshew to get the Chiefs into field goal range to force overtime or get a touchdown to win.

Mahomes news get worse

While Mahomes did walk off the field, as the Chiefs were driving into field goal range, the CBS sports broadcast then switched to a tunnel camera, and we saw Mahomes being helped to the locker room with a trainer on each side of him as he struggled to walk.

It was the worst way possible to end the season with the Chiefs hanging on for dear life, and as Kansas City was driving into Chargers territory, Minshew was intercepted, and that ended the Chiefs' season with only 40+ seconds left.

It was a horror day for Kansas City.

They lost the game, saw their season end, and the injury to Mahomes just rubs salt into a gaping wound as the 2025 season comes to the worst possible end for the defending AFC champs.
