Will Travis Kelce retire? Insider drops huge update on Chiefs TE image

The future of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is one storyline that many will follow over the coming weeks and months.

Will he retire and ride off into the sunset as the best tight end ever? Or will he return for a 14th NFL season looking for one more shot at Super Bowl glory?

Honestly, we don't know. And we aren't sure Travis knows, either.

But for ESPN's Chiefs insider Nate Taylor, he has a feeling we'll be seeing No. 87 in 2026.

“I'm of the belief that he will likely return for another year in 2026," Taylor said on 96.5 The Fan.

Now, that doesn't confirm Travis will return, but Nate is as plugged in to the Chiefs organization as anyone. So, this will be a key watch.

Should Travis Kelce retire?

It depends on who you ask.

But Travis did have an ok season in 2025. He led the Chiefs in all major categories (yards, receptions, joint leader in TDs), so he is still being productive.

The question is, does he have enough fuel in the tank for a full offseason and regular season?

If he does, then great. Come back and have another shot at a Super Bowl in 2026.

But if there is any doubt over his ability to do that, then that likely tells us 2025 was the last time we'll see Kelce on a football field.

Taylor thinks Travis is returning. We wait to see what the tight end's decision will be.
