There is no denying that the Kansas City Chiefs had a poor run game in 2025, with Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt.
The Chiefs managed just 106.6 yards per game, ranking them 24th in the NFL. That isn't good. The problem was that there wasn't a home-run threat from Pacheco or Hunt. Both are plodders and bruising backs.
That has to change in 2026. The Chiefs need a lightning rod out of the backfield. You could get one in the draft, with Jeremiyah Love, but what about free agency?
The Chiefs tried to get Breece Hall midway through last season, but failed.
So, could they go back to the free agent well? Absolutely, but in my mind, they've got to go big.
Why not attempt to get Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker, who is the No. 1 free agent back according to PFF?

Would Walker be worth it?
Absolutely.
A do-it-all back for the Seahawks, what Walker could do in Kansas City's backfield is a tantalizing thought.
The only problem is with his playoff performances; he's driving up his price, and if he wins the Super Bowl? Yeah, a huge contract is likely forthcoming.
The Chiefs likely won't want to get into a bidding war for Walker's services. Of course, it depends on how much they would want it, if at all.
But Kansas City needs an overhaul at running back, and having Walker behind Patrick Mahomes would be something that gets Chiefs Kingdom excited.
