Patrick Mahomes has had enough of these close finishes that see the Kansas City Chiefs, more often than not, on the losing side.
After being impeccable in one-score games last season, all of Kansas City's six losses this year have been by one score. Oh, how the tables turn.
But at 6-6, the urgency is real for the Chiefs if they are to make the playoffs.
Head coach Andy Reid stated the Chiefs are "close" to getting it all together, but for Mahomes, that's enough talk about being close; now is the time to actually follow through.
“If you look at every game that we've lost this year, we've been right in it up until the end,” Mahomes said. “But we haven't made those plays. We're definitely close, but I've said these last few weeks, you can be close, but you can't be close for too long. You got to go out there and make it happen.
"I think we have the guys to do that, but we got to go out there and prove it. There's another opportunity for us to go out there and prove it this weekend.”

Chiefs' playoff hopes dangling by a thread
There's no other way to put it in Week 14 — the Chiefs have to win.
It doesn't matter by how much or what it looks like; Kansas City simply has to get the win. If not, playoffs for the 2025 season will be out of reach.
Given that we are in the first week of December, that isn't great, but that is the hole the Chiefs have dug for themselves. Now, against a Houston Texans team that is one of the best defenses in football and without potentially both starting tackles, Mahomes has to make it work.
Has he got enough magic left to will his team to a win?
