'No more chances' for Chiefs after Bills loss

The Kansas City Chiefs are in unfamiliar territory after their 28-21 loss to the Buffalo Bills, which sees them drop to 5-4.

The Chiefs are now third in their division behind the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers, but perhaps the most surprising thing is that if the playoffs were played today, Kansas City wouldn't be part of the tournament.

So, as you could imagine, the sense of urgency is high for the Chiefs, and now heading into their bye week, solutions have to be found because, as Mahomes states, that margin for error is nearly gone.

"We got to learn from it, you gotta do it now," a frustrated Mahomes said. "There's no easy game coming up, and there's no more chances where we can really take losses, so you got to learn from it fast."

Chiefs face defining fortnight after bye week

Now, let me preface this by stating that yes, this is the Chiefs, and by no means am I jumping off the bandwagon, but post-bye, Kansas City might have back-to-back season-defining games.

The Broncos and the Indianapolis Colts are on the schedule, and after that, the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving, and with their offense, who knows what we will get from Brian Schottenheimer's team.

At 5-4, the Chiefs aren't used to being in this position. Do we have faith they can turn it around?

Absolutely, but they are running out of games to do it. It is odd that just one game of football ago, the Chiefs were among the favorites for the Super Bowl and division. Has that slipped after the Bills loss?

Possibly, but Mahomes knows that the time for narrow losses is over -- Kansas City has to start banking wins if it wants to punch its playoff ticket in 2025.
