Chiefs could pull off nightmare coaching move for AFC image

The Kansas City Chiefs have long been the top dog of the NFL and the AFC, with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid being the gold standard for winning.

But changes are coming for the organization, and it should put the NFL on notice.

The first one is Eric Bienemy back as offensive coordinator. One of the masterminds of the Chiefs' success in previous years, he's set to return to be Reid's right-hand man.

But defensively, Steve Spagnuolo could be out as coordinator, as he is chasing a head coaching position.

So, who could the Chiefs look at if "Spags" moves on?

I've got a candidate, and Buffalo Bills fans will hate it -- Sean McDermott.

Could Chiefs lure McDermott?

It will depend on whether McDermott wants to return to coaching so soon, and if he does, the Chiefs should be on the phone with Sean.

Now, his defenses in Buffalo were never great, but at times they were more than serviceable.

But this move is more about what it would do to the Bills. Having their former head coach link up with the team that ended their season four consecutive times. That would be tough to swallow.

The other thing is, would McDermott want another head coaching job? Or more to the point, would he want to be a defensive coordinator?

Those questions have to be answered, and if the Chiefs can manage to get McDermott, the Kansas City/Buffalo rivalry would go up several notches.
