Up until the last two weeks, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was in the thick of the MVP conversation with his team rallying to be in the Super Bowl hunt.

Three straight wins in which Mahomes threw three touchdown passes each had everyone thinking "here we go again" for Kansas City. However, in the last two weeks, the Chiefs have lost to the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos, with Mahomes throwing just one touchdown, being intercepted twice and not having a completion percentage over 64.4 percent.

And due to the problems the Broncos defense gave him, in Nick Shook's latest quarterback rankings for NFL.com, Patrick is clinging to his top-five status, coming in at No. 5.

"The Broncos sent Patrick Mahomes to the depths of a nightmare, making everything difficult for the superstar quarterback," Shook wrote. "He still managed to give the Chiefs a chance, but the Week 11 loss was the most challenging game Mahomes has encountered since Super Bowl LIX."

Chiefs need Mahomes' magic in Week 12

There's no other way to put it: In Week 12 against the Indianapolis Colts, Mahomes and his team have to win.

It doesn't matter by how much, Mahomes and the offense, along with Steve Spagnuolo's defense, have to put it all on the line because anything other than a win against the 8-2 Colts would mean it is likely season over.

The Chiefs haven't faced this sort of pressure in the Mahomes era, so it will be interesting to see how the team handles it at Arrowhead on Sunday. But with No. 15 at the helm, you are always going to be confident that he'll come through in the clutch.

And this time, he really needs to will his team to a win, because, frankly, their entire 2025 season depends on it.
