Have Chiefs finally found long-term answer to most problematic position? image

The Kansas City Chiefs' 2025 season is officially over, and now Andy Reid and Co. Can look forward to their longest offseason in quite some time.

With the Chiefs needing a reset of sorts and several players' futures up in the air, they can also look at the players who might have exceeded expectations in 2025.

Looking at their draft class of 2025, only Brashard Smith and Josh Simmons were the ones to consistently contribute.

And for PFF's Ben Cooper, he's named Simmons as Kansas City's most impactful rookie in 2025.

"Simmons may well be the team’s long-term answer at that spot," Cooper wrote. "His 75.5 PFF pass-blocking grade is easily the best mark among any Chiefs player to see snaps at left tackle since Brown yielded the role. Simmons missed a chunk of the season due to personal reasons but still made a significant impact for Kansas City."

Patrick Mahomes' protection still a worry

Mahomes' protection was a huge problem in 2025, and yes, injuries played their role, but Patrick was running for his life far too often.

In his 14 games, Mahomes was sacked 34 times, just two shy of his career-high, and looking closer at the numbers, it is easy to see why the Chiefs' offense struggled.

In six of his last seven games, Mahomes was sacked at least three times per game.

That is far too many hits, and now the Chiefs, who also have to address the defense, have to think about allocating resources to the offensive line.

Simmons might be the long-term answer at left tackle, but there are still gaping holes that need to be filled.
