The Kansas City Chiefs' season is still alive after their 23-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts that saw Andy Reid's team run a whopping 90 plays, en route to an overtime win.

Now at 6-5, the Chiefs, after dominating the stat sheet against the Colts, will look ahead to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

But before that, let's dissect this game.

The Chiefs were 1-6 in the red zone. You could make the case that had the offense been a little more crisp in the red zone, this could have been a mauling.

For CBS Sports' John Breech, he gave the Chiefs an "A-" grade for their performance at Arrowhead, while also revealing something the Chiefs did for the first time this season.

“The Chiefs essentially needed this win to save their season, and they got the victory by taking over in the second half,” Breech wrote. “For the first time all season, they won a one-score game, and knowing the Chiefs (6-5), this could be the win that sends them on a run deep into January and possibly even February.”

Are Chiefs back as close-game kings?

Hardly, but what Sunday showed is that when it is time to push everything into the middle of the table, this Chiefs team can still get the job done.

Having been 0-5 in one-score games this season, after being 12-0 (including playoffs) last year, the Chiefs finally notched their first one-score win of the 2025 season.

Now, to say they are "back" is a little bit of prisoner of the moment, but Kansas City still proved that it can pull it out when needed, as its 14-play-81-yard drive in overtime that took 5:56 off the clock and set up Harrison Butker for the game-winner is clear evidence of.

So no, the Chiefs aren't back as the close-game kings, but they just reminded everyone that when push comes to shove, they still have that clutch gene.
