Chiefs' Andy Reid reveals hidden benefit of WR injuries image

The Kansas City Chiefs' offense has seen its two best weapons, Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, missing for the first three weeks of the season.

Rice, due to his six-game suspension for an off-the-field incident, and Worthy, who dislocated his shoulder a couple of plays into Week 1. That isn't ideal for an offense that desperately needs more production from the receiver unit.

But it's not all bad, according to head coach Andy Reid, because Patrick Mahomes has gotten work with real live bullets flying with players he otherwise wouldn't have.

“I think one of the great things is that Pat’s been able to get some gametime with a couple of guys that he didn’t have a lot of gametime with,” Reid said. “I think it’s a positive thing, and then when the other guys come in, he’s got experience with them. I look at the production of Hollywood and Thornton, I think that’s a real positive for the team.”

Will Xavier Worthy return vs. Ravens?

The Chiefs dropped their injury report on Wednesday, and Worthy was a full participant, which is great news ahead of what is a must-win for Kansas City.

Exactly what his snap count looks like is unknown, but with Marquise Brown and Tyquan Thornton both getting valuable reps with Mahomes, now we add in Worthy to the mix, and there are more avenues to exploit with the passing game.

Yeah, the receiver injuries weren't ideal, but it did allow Mahomes to build more rapport with them, and when Worthy and then Rice return, Patrick will have developed good chemistry with his entire receiver room, and that surely bodes well for the rest of the season.
