There will be many questions to answer for the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason as the franchise comes to terms with the idea that the dynasty is over.
The Chiefs missed the playoffs for the first time with Patrick Mahomes, who also suffered an ACL injury. There are other star players, like Travis Kelce, whose futures will be questioned, and the personnel changes that happen every year now feel more important to the Chiefs.
But one person who might have been left out of the initial thinking about his future is head coach Andy Reid.
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio is posing the question of what Reid's future in Kansas City looks like after this year.
"Now, you got to wonder if he's thinking and if the team's thinking, we're getting close to a natural separation point that he's going to be 68 in March,” Florio said. “Is he going to want to be there through this soft rebuild or whatever it is we're going to call it. It's not we're riding the wave now. The wave's over, and we're paddling back out searching for the next wave.
"Does he want to paddle the board? Do they want him to paddle the board? I think these are things that are going to become relevant. Not that they're going to give him a push, not that he's going to feel the heat, but it just changes things."

Could Reid step away from head coach role?
Of course, he could, but right now it doesn't feel like an option.
That could easily change in the coming months, however.
There still feels like there is meat on the bone for Reid in Kansas City, but as Florio stated, he isn't getting any younger, and with the Chiefs' dynasty over, and a new chapter set to begin in 2026, we wonder if that chapter will begin with Reid as the head coach.
Personally, I don't see Reid walking away at this point in time. There still feels like Reid has more juice in the tank.
The next couple of months will be big for the Chiefs, and how this franchise looks in Week 1 of the 2026 season could be a whole lot different from what we initially thought.
