For the Kansas City Chiefs, since Patrick Mahomes became the starter in 2018, they've been in the playoffs every season.

Until this year.

That means that the perennial playoff team is making vacation plans instead of focusing on trying to win playoff games, and that is a tough thing to wrap your head around.

But for tight end Travis Kelce, who was on the New Heights podcast, he's looking forward to doing something he hasn't been able to do for years.

"Just being a regular human for a couple weeks, maybe a month or so, and trying to figure out what I'm gonna do next in terms of my future in football," Kelce said. "I've talked to a few people in the facility already, having the exit meetings and everything, and they know where I stand, at least right now. And I think there's a lot of love for the game that's still there, and I don't think I'll ever lose that."

Chiefs face indifferent offseason

This is a team that has been so used to being in the playoffs and either making the AFC Championship or Super Bowl that now, they have an extra month off.

With coaching changes expected with Matt Nagy and Steve Spagnuolo interviewing for head coaching roles, plus players' futures (like Kelce's), up in the air, change is definitely coming.

But maybe being a "regular human" for this playoff run might give Kelce the answer he's craving as he decides whether to come back in 2026 or not.

It is a big decision, and one that could shape the Chiefs' entire offseason plans, so it is one that Travis has to get right.
