The Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys Sunday night matchup might have been the craziest game yet of the 2025 NFL season. Micah Parsons was returning to Dallas for the first time as a member of the Packers.

This game lived up to the hype from the opening kickoff. There was a lot of offense displayed in this football game and the game ended in a 40-40 tie. With the tie, Green Bay's record is 2-1-1 on the season and Dallas's record is 1-2-1 on the season. The Packers' defense was gashed in this game, but Parsons made a huge play in overtime that prevented Green Bay from losing the game. After the first four weeks of the season, is this team a true Super Bowl contender or not?

Green Bay Packers Insider Questions If the Team Is True Super Bowl Contenders or Not After the Tie Game

Matt Schneidman of the Athletic covers the Packers and had some interesting things to write about in his post-game column. During the first couple weeks of the season, many thought that Green Bay were serious Super Bowl contenders, but it appears as if they have stuff to work on. Schneidman said,

"Long gone is the Green Bay Packers team resembling a legitimate Super Bowl contender. Such is the fickle nature of the NFL, a league that can humble teams in the same amount of time that separates a 40-40 tie game from a generational clock-management blunder.

One second.

That’s how much time the Packers left themselves for kicker Brandon McManus’ 34-yard field goal that ended Sunday night’s game in the first NFL tie since 2022. Quite frankly, the 2-1-1 Packers were fortunate, for more reasons than that, not to leave AT&T Stadium with a second consecutive back-breaking loss."

They once had a 13-2 lead in the game, but it turned into a wild affair after that. Last week, the offense struggled against the Cleveland Browns and this week the defense struggled. Despite having a winning record, this might be a perfect time for a bye week for the Packers.

It is understandable that no one wants a bye week in week five. However, this will be perfect for Green Bay. After the bye week, they will face the Cincinnati Bengals. There is no doubt that this team has to make changes in order to be Super Bowl contenders again. It appeared as if that blowout against the Detroit Lions in week one was a mirage.
