Bo Nix reveals Broncos wanted to honour late Demaryius Thomas in comeback win over Giants image

Bo Nix helped steer the Denver Broncos to a dramatic 33-32 win over the New York Giants on Sunday (October 19).

Sean Payton's team trailed 0-19 heading into the final quarter at Empower Field, but Nix's superb four-touchdown-display ensured the AFC West outfit would not surrender.

The Broncos sealed the win through a 39-yard walk-off field-goal from Wil Lutz, just moments after Jude McAtamney missed an extra point for Brian Daboll's team.

The team moved to 5-2 as a result of the late surge against the Giants and now sit atop of their division after the Los Angeles Chargers fell to the Indianapolis Colts.

The spirit that the home team displayed was fitting, as the franchise's winning group from Super Bowl 50 were honoured during the Week 7 match.

Among those to be honoured was the late Demaryius Thomas, who passed away in 2021 after suffering a seizure and being found unconscious at his home.

The 2x Pro Bowl wide receiver was posthumously diagnosed with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).

Thomas was inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame at half-time on Sunday, and a pillar of the former player was unveiled outside the team's stadium.

Following his team's battling performance against the Giants, Nix was asked by reporters on the influence that Thomas and his past teammates had on the current group of Broncos players during Sunday's contest.

"When people do it before you and leave the legacy they leave, you owe it to them and the organisation to not only make them proud, but give it your all and leave it better than you found it," the quarterback answered.

"We had every right to quit, to stop playing for each other, but we don't have those guys," he added.

"We got guys that continue to battle, play really hard and it usually only takes a few. Then everybody else sees and you see the light at the end of the tunnel."

"Today we didn't come up short because we didn't quit. It says a lot about our team."

Up next for Nix and the Broncos is the visit of the Dallas Cowboys in Week 8 (October 26).
