The Dallas Cowboys' Achilles heel again was its undoing in the 30-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers, as Matt Eberflus' defense was again horrific.

Rico Dowdle rushed for 183 yards while having another 56 receiving yards to put his former team to the sword, as another good offensive day was wasted with George Pickens posting 168 yards and a touchdown as he again showed he can be the No. 1 weapon Dallas needs until CeeDee Lamb gets back.

But that defense, sheesh.

With not many reinforcements coming aside from DeMarvion Overshown, it is tough sledding for the Cowboys as the unit simply can't stop anyone.

But does that then put more pressure on the offense's plate?

“I wouldn't say like extra pressure,” Pickens said . “I'll just say more finish and more resiliency because it doesn't matter if we was out there by ourselves. We definitely want to put up most points as we can and try to help the defense. That's how you help the defense. So definitely doing our part first.”

Cowboys have to fix defensive issues

Social media was rampant with upset fans, with many wanting Eberflus to be relieved of his duties, but we know that likely won't be happening. Something needs to change.

The Cowboys are wasting one of the best offenses in football due to poor play on the defensive side of the ball (if only Micah Parsons were here).

Whether it be personnel or scheme, the Cowboys' defense appears dead in the water right now, and with the Washington Commanders up next, it will again fall on Dak and Co. to be perfect in order for the Cowboys to win.

Pickens says there isn't extra pressure, but we fail to see how there isn't.

If the offense keeps playing in that manner, and so too the defense, Dallas will lose more games than it wins, and that tells you all you need to know.
