TL;DR

  • Dak Prescott is having a career-best season with high rankings in touchdowns, completion percentage, and passing yards.
  • He led a remarkable comeback against the Philadelphia Eagles, earning him a No. 3 spot in quarterback rankings.
  • Prescott faces the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving, a game with high viewership and playoff implications.
  • A win against the Chiefs would be a monumental victory, silencing critics and solidifying his performance.

There's no denying that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott is playing some of the best football of his career this season, and his stats back it up.

Dak ranks tied for second in the league with 23 touchdowns, fifth in completion percentage (69.5), third in passing yards (2,941), second in passing yards per game (267.4), and seventh in rating (102.6). Meanwhile, the Cowboys are fourth in points scored per game (29.1).

Following a remarkable comeback against the Philadelphia Eagles, where Dak completed 23 of 36 passes for 354 yards, threw two touchdowns, one interception, and achieved a 103.2 passer rating, Prescott's outstanding 2025 season persists.

As such, for NFL.com's Nick Shook, in his latest quarterback rankings, Dak moves up to No. 3.

"Dak Prescott is back in the top tier and for good reason," Shook writes. "After two rough weeks, Prescott has returned to form, posting a 6:1 TD-to-INT ratio in his last two games. He led his team back from a 21-0 deficit like a seasoned warrior against the Eagles, keeping Dallas' postseason hopes alive and invigorating a fan base that has been rightfully frustrated for much of the fall. Don't doubt your fearless leader, Cowboys fans."

Prescott has an opportunity to silence critics when facing the Chiefs.

Considering Dak's recent performance against the Eagles, the focus now shifts to Thanksgiving, with many anticipating this matchup to be the most-viewed regular-season NFL game ever.

With the Kansas City Chiefs being hosted and the entire globe observing the Cowboys' season's precarious state, this presents a prime opportunity for Prescott to maintain his current impressive performance.

To be fair, Steve Spagnuolo's defense presents a challenge; however, many felt the same way about Vic Fangio's defense, and we saw Dak's performance against them.

However, with the whole country observing and a story suggesting Prescott falters in crucial matches (even though he's proven otherwise on multiple occasions), this presents an opportunity to gain significant favor.

Defeating the Eagles is a notable achievement (Dak's record against them is typically strong, 10-5), but overcoming Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs on Thanksgiving when the season hangs in the balance would truly represent a monumental victory for Dak.
