When the Dallas Cowboys traded for George Pickens, many were skeptical about how he and All-Pro receiver CeeDee Lamb would coexist in Brian Schottenheimer's offense.

Well, through eight weeks, the pair have been superb. In fact, going all the way back to training camp, Lamb and Pickens have been two peas in a pod, with their relationship both on and off the field being something that has helped fuel the Cowboys' offense.

Pickens already has 764 yards and six touchdowns, while Lamb, having missed a couple of games due to injury, already has 491 yards and a touchdown as the pair have become Dak Prescott's top two weapons.

And as Dallas heads to the bye week, receivers coach Junior Adams was asked if the Lamb/Pickens tandem had been what he expected.

“Talent-wise, yes, and skill-wise, yes,” Adams said. “But I mean, it's really impressive to see just the relationship those two guys have on and off the field. You see them out at practice, they're always together. They're attached to the hip. They're always talking through not only life things, but just what's going on football-wise as far as how to run a certain route or concepts.”

Should Cowboys extend Pickens?

If it were my decision, I'd be putting a contract in front of George now.

Playing at a Pro-Bowl level, Pickens has been the perfect foil for Lamb, and his presence on the field has forced defenses to put more players into coverage, meaning running back Javonte Williams has seen lighter boxes.

Still with a little over $20 million in cap space, the Cowboys absolutely can afford it, and if Pickens is extended, it would then give Dallas the green light to go all-in after defensive players in free agency and the draft, because the offense, if things stay the same, weapons-wise, is set.

Of course, we know that Jerry Jones and contracts aren't exactly a smooth thing, but when it comes to Pickens, it feels like a no-brainer.
