When the Buffalo Bills used their first selection in the 2024 NFL Draft on receiver Keon Coleman, there was a thought the franchise had found a player capable of becoming Josh Allen's go-to weapon.
But near the end of Keon's second season, things hadn't panned out that way.
This season, especially after being disciplined twice for off-the-field issues, the receiver has had to work his way back into the coaching staff's good graces.
He didn't have a reception in the win over the New England Patriots, and then against the Cleveland Browns, he was a healthy scratch.
But here is where it gets even more baffling.
Head coach Sean McDermott stated the reason Keon didn't play was because of "lineup decisions."
Hmm, ok.
If Coleman is the weapon you think, the Bills should fancy him against any defensive lineup and have him ahead on the receiver depth chart. Right?

Bills now have Keon problem
Given that the Bills, even with their lack of genuine receiver options, are content to sit Coleman and have him be a healthy scratch, it isn't a good sign.
Now, I'm not saying that he can't come back, have a good preseason, and become a solid player in 2026, but right now, you have to wonder if the Bills are perhaps a little "out" on the young receiver.
It has been a big year of learning for Keon, and this latest healthy scratching due to lineup decisions doesn't paint a positive future in my opinion.
Could I be wrong? Absolutely.
But things don't appear to be going too well right now.
