Bills' Josh Allen pushes MVP case in latest QB rankings image

You could make the case that Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen played one of the best games of his career in the 28-21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 9.

Allen would go 23 of 26 for 273 yards and a touchdown as he completed a ridiculous 88.5 percent of his passes...oh, and he rushed for two touchdowns as well to put on a show against his AFC rivals.

That sort of performance just reminds the NFL how dangerous this Bills offense can be when things are rolling, and when it comes to Allen, that is an MVP-type showing.

As such, Nick Shook, in his latest quarterback rankings for NFL.com, has Allen moving up one spot, to No. 4.

“On the other side of the Chiefs-Bills coin was Josh Allen, who played his best football since the first month of the season,” Shook wrote. “He completed 23-of-26 passes and looked much more like himself than he has over the last month.

"If this is how the Bills are going to play moving forward, Allen will climb back into an MVP race he owned last season.”

Is Allen in MVP race?

In truth, Josh is never "really" out of it, and performances like his against Kansas City no doubt make everyone sit up and take notice.

His stats this season aren't as eye-opening as last year, as he has thrown for 1,833 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions while having a passer rating of 107 and a QBR of 69. Plus, he has seven rushing touchdowns and 280 yards.

So, there is a case to be made for Josh to be in the thick of the MVP conversation, and games like he had in Week 9 will only further enhance his case.

More performances like Allen's in Week 9 will not only push his MVP case but will also put the Bills back at the summit of Super Bowl favorites, which, given the makeup of this team, is Super Bowl or bust.

And right now, Buffalo is poised to again go deep into the playoffs.
