The Buffalo Bills have seen the first eight games of the season come and go, with a 6-2 record to show for it, and the offense and defense both playing at a high level.
Fresh off a 28-21 win over the Kansas City Chiefs that saw the offense be ruthlessly efficient, and the defense consistently pressure Patrick Mahomes and feast on the Chiefs' offensive line, both sides of the ball won their respective battles.
And for Allen, the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball is where it starts, and an attacking mindset has powered the team to yet another good start to the year.
“I think that starts with the offensive and defensive lines, we got a pretty nasty group up front for us,” Allen said. “But coach [McDermott] preaches all the time, playing offense in all three phases in attacking. Every time we step out in the field, we want to score touchdowns. That's our main goal. We feel at certain points throughout the seasons we've really hurt ourselves, albeit turnovers or penalties.
"The name of the game of limiting those, staying in rhythm, and running the ball with James. So, just having that attacking mindset, I think it helps.”

Bills attack mode key to playoff push
The biggest thing in Buffalo's favor is that, with the type of offense it has under Joe Brady, it isn't one-dimensional.
James Cook, as he did against the Chiefs, can rush for 114 yards on 27 attempts to keep the defense honest, but then, conversely, Allen can let it rip and go 23 of 26 for 273 yards through the air to keep the defense on its heels again.
And it is the ability to attack in a variety of ways that makes this Bills offense so dangerous.
Plus, when you add in Allen's ability as a runner, coupled with how devastating tight ends Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox can be in both the run and pass game, the Bills can "attack" from multiple avenues.
The attacking mindset has served Buffalo well this season, and it might be the deciding factor in whether or not the franchise finally breaks its Super Bowl drought.
