The Buffalo Bills franchise, over the past seven or so years, has been a steady and reliable franchise.

Well, that's been blown up.

Head coach Sean McDermott has been fired, and somewhat oddly, general manager Brandon Beane has been promoted.

Both have been tied at the hip since Josh Allen came into the league, and Beane, after only drafting two Pro Bowl players since Allen was drafted, somehow gets a promotion.

We have seen Bills players voice their displeasure over the McDermott firing, and with Beane now taking full control over the football department, that is baffling.

And it is here where things have the potential to go sideways in a big way for Buffalo.

More: Did Josh Allen play a role in Bills' firing of Sean McDermott?

Could Bills franchise fracture over McDermott firing?

Absolutely, it could. But it's unlikely.

With players unhappy with the move, that isn't out of the ordinary. But a general manager is getting a promotion after essentially failing to address the receiver position for years.

Beane even bit back at radio hosts last offseason for suggesting it.

Plus, his draft history isn't exactly good either, with just two Pro Bowl players.

Yet McDermott was the one who lost his job, while Beane got promoted. It doesn't make sense.

And if it doesn't make sense to me, it sure won't to the locker room, and that is where things can go south in a hurry.

This once stable organization has been thrown into chaos.
