The Buffalo Bills saw their season end at the hands of the Denver Broncos 33-30 in the divisional round, with Josh Allen, often the reason Buffalo wins, playing a huge role in the loss.

Yes, much can be made about Brandin Cooks "catch," but in truth, Buffalo's fumbles and Allen's interception all played a role in the loss.

This was supposed to be the year Allen finally got over that playoff hump with no Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, or Lamar Jackson in the postseason, and he couldn't.

What will make it hurt more is that Allen played a huge role in the loss, and for NFL.com's Jeffri Chadiha, he's named Josh as one of the big losers from the divisional round.

"There isn't much left to say about Allen when it comes to postseason defeats," Chadiha wrote. "He's dealt with some heartbreakers over the course of his career, but this one should hurt a bit more because of his role.

"It's been said many times that Allen was poised to benefit from a postseason without Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson playing. Turns out that advantage didn't take the Bills any farther than they've already been in recent years."

Where to now for Buffalo?

Well, your guess is as good as mine, folks.

Sean McDermott's future now has to be in doubt, after yet another playoff failure with one of the best quarterbacks in football.

McDermott was under pressure prior to the season, and now that the Bills have been dumped out of the postseason, without the top-liners in the tournament, we wonder if changes will be coming this offseason.

And by changes, we mean both personnel-wise and coaching-wise. Who knows, maybe even general manager Brandon Beane could see his future be questioned.

In truth, it was the worst way for Buffalo's season to end. They had everything in front of them.

And when push came to shove, the Bills blinked, and Denver didn't.
