Just a couple of days after the Baltimore Ravens' season ended with a missed Tyler Loop field goal in Pittsburgh, now the franchise has dropped the hammer.

John Harbaugh, the Ravens' head coach for the past 18 seasons, has been fired, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Now, a Ravens team with Lamar Jackson at the helm is on the lookout for a new head coach to pair with the two-time MVP for 2026 and beyond.

Having been with Lamar since 2018, Harbaugh is now officially out as the Ravens make perhaps the biggest move of the year, and you can bet there will be a long line of candidates who want this job.

Harbaugh pays price for playoff failures

Granted, this season didn't help, but the writing was on the wall for the past couple of seasons.

With Lamar and Harbaugh, the Ravens never made it to a Super Bowl, and they developed a history of falling apart in the biggest spots in the playoffs.

That likely had something to do with the franchise parting ways. So too the fact that Harbaugh has been the Ravens' head coach since 2008. A change was needed.

This is a monumental shift for the AFC franchise, and for some, it was a move that was coming.

Now, Lamar will have a new voice in his ear in 2026.
