The Texas Longhorns added two offensive stars via the transfer portal on Sunday, with wide receiver Cam Coleman and running back Hollywood Smothers announcing their respective decisions to join head coach Steve Sarkisian’s program. However, the good news didn’t stop there for the Longhorns.
On Sunday afternoon, offensive tackle Trevor Goosby announced his return to Texas for the 2026 season, giving the Longhorns continuity and strength at the left tackle position next year. Goosby was projected by many analysts to be a first‑round pick in the upcoming NFL Draft in April, but chose to return for his redshirt junior season.

Trevor Goosby returning for 2026 is massive news for the Longhorns.
During his time at Texas, Goosby has emerged as one of college football’s premier offensive tackles. He arrived in Austin as a lightly-recruited three-star prospect from Melissa H.S. (Melissa, TX) in the Class of 2023. After appearing in two games in his first season, he played in 15 games as a redshirt freshman in 2024. He burst onto the scene in the 2024 edition of the Lone Star Showdown, when he stepped in mid-game for the injured Kelvin Banks Jr. And thrived in a hostile road environment against the Aggies.

In 2025, Goosby allowed just three sacks in 775 regular-season snaps, earning first-team All-SEC honors while protecting quarterback Arch Manning’s blindside.

Goosby’s presence and consistent play gave the Longhorns much‑needed stability up front in 2025, and Texas is now in position to benefit greatly from his steadiness once again as they look to return to the College Football Playoff in 2026.
