Houston survived a dramatic finish on Friday night, holding off UCF 30-27 thanks to a last-minute interception in the end zone by safety Kentrell Webb, spoiling a nearly heroic comeback bid from the Knights and backup quarterback Davi Belfort.
Houston survives in a last-minute interception against UCF
After UCF starting quarterback Tayven Jackson was benched late in the fourth quarter, Belfort entered and quickly energized the offense. Trailing by four, the Knights marched inside Houston’s 10-yard line with less than 30 seconds left. On second down, Belfort fired a strike toward the back of the end zone, but Webb leaped in front of the intended receiver for the game-clinching pick, sending the visiting Cougars’ sidelines into celebration.

Houston, now 8–2, leaned on an elite defense down the stretch, rebounding from a UCF surge that included multiple second-half touchdowns. UCF (4–5) saw its bowl hopes take a major blow despite the late efforts from Belfort and a raucous Bounce House crowd.
Houston closes out its regular season hosting TCU and then traveling to Baylor, while UCF faces a tough road stretch against Texas Tech and BYU to finish the year.
