The Clemson Tigers are off to a 1-3 start to the 2025 college football season. Clemson's slow start has been a major surprise, and they are also 0-2 in ACC Conference play as well.
Dabo Swinney has been the head coach of this program since the 2009 season. He has built this program from the ground up. During his time here, he has been to the national title game four times and has won it twice. Swinney has also won many ACC Conference titles. If both parties decide to move on from each other this offseason, where could the head coach possibly go?
Clemson Tigers Dabo Swinney Should First Look at the Virginia Tech Hokies Job
If Swinney is bought out by Clemson this offseason, the first place that he should look at is the Virginia Tech Hokies. He would not have to move conferences and is used to the ACC. Virginia Tech needs a man to revive the football program. The Hokies fired Brent Pry as head coach after an 0-3 start.
Swinney would be able to field a good football team really fast with Virginia Tech. He knows how to recruit with Clemson and maybe a lot of those recruits would flip to join him if that were to happen. The Hokies have a very good passionate fanbase.
Alabama Crimson Tide
Would the Alabama Crimson Tide move off of Kalen DeBoer as head coach after just two seasons if they miss the college football playoffs again? Alabama wants a national contender. He played wide receiver for them from 1990-92. Swinney was also on the Crimson Tide coaching staff from 1993-2000.
He is 55 years old and would be able to land top recruits to Alabama. Swinney is no stranger to being in the national spotlight. Maybe letting go of DeBoer and bringing him in from Clemson would be a great move to get the Crimson Tide back on top.
Wisconsin Badgers
The Wisconsin Badgers appear to be in a bad spot with Luke Fickell as head coach. He is in his third season with the program. If Wisconsin fails to make another bowl game this season, they will be forced to make a move. Swinney at Wisconsin would be good for both parties. He wouldn't have the pressure to be in the national spotlight but would make this program respectable again and start winning.
The Badgers would need to recruit at a level to keep pace with the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Penn State Nittany Lions, the Michigan Wolverines, the Indiana Hoosiers, and the Oregon Ducks in the BIG10 Conference. Swinney would no doubt gain interest from Wisconsin, but would he want this job? There would be better jobs available for him if he left Clemson.
