Since the Raptors' 2019 NBA championship, they have struggled to have a season that was a fraction of what they accomplished that year.
They've gone through a rebuild, and now find themselves in the mix as a top-four team in the Eastern Conference.
The Raptors most notably made an aggressive move to trade for Brandon Ingram at last year's trade deadline, but there was another big name that they made a serious offer on around this time last year.
What star player did the Raptors almost trade for?
NBA insider Marc Stein reported the Raptors made an aggressive trade offer for Hawks guard Trae Young at the 2025 NBA Trade Deadline.
Stein detailed that an offer was made, centered around Immanuel Quickley and draft picks, but the Hawks weren't sold on that haul at the time.

He also mentioned that they continued to keep an eye on Trae Young's situation in recent months, but the Hawks didn't like the idea of taking on Quickley's contract.
Instead, the Hawks decided to trade Young to the Wizards, getting an expiring contract (CJ McCollum) and Corey Kispert in return.
Quickley missed most of last season due to injuries, playing just 33 games.
He's already played more games in this season so far, averaging 16.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 6.2 assists (career high) as the Raptors' starting point guard.
