Since the 1992 Dream Team dominated the Barcelona Olympics as the first USA men's team featuring professional players, the United States went on to win the next two gold medals, further cementing their status as the world's basketball power.

In 2004 in Athens, that came undone as they went on to lose to eventual gold medallists Argentina in the semi-final, settling for bronze with a team that featured stars including Allen Iverson, Tim Duncan, Stephon Marbury and the young trio of Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony.

This loss berthed the 2008 project dubbed the Redeem Team, headlined by Kobe Byrant, Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, James, Wade and Anthony, tasked with the mission to restore USA basketball to its place at the top of the tree in Beijing.

On Sept. 13, Netflix dropped the first trailer for "The Redeem Team," the documentary chronicling their gold medal run at the 2008 Olympics, featuring behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with Bryant, James, Wade and Anthony.

When will 'The Redeem Team' be released?

Netflix announced that "The Redeem Team" will be available to stream on Oct. 7, 2022.
