The National Basketball Players Association has made a huge impact on the way the NBA has started operating differently recently.

There are a lot of new financial rules, and players are getting paid huge contracts.

CJ McCollum previously served as president of the NBPA, but on Saturday, it was announced that a new player was elected to take over for McCollum.

What NBA player is the new NBPA president?

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that Rockets guard Fred VanVleet was elected as the new president of the NBPA.

McCollum has served and completed his four-year term as president, and now VanVleet will officially begin his four-year term.

Shams also reported that McCollum will still have involvement with the NBPA, as "he will now serve in an advisory position."

VanVleet recently re-signed with the Rockets and is on a team with high expectations going into next season, after Houston acquired Kevin Durant in a trade.

He went undrafted when entering the league, yet has made about $165 million in salaries through nine years in the league.

It can be a positive to have a player with VanVleet's background as the leader of the NBPA, since he has the unique perspective of being a great player, but at the same time, he had to work his way up from being undrafted to get to where he is today.
