Knicks & Suns interested in adding former Lakers coach to staff image

The Knicks and Suns both recently named new people as the next head coaches of their respective franchises.

With that comes filling in/replacing seats on the bench for assistant coach spots.

Both teams have reportedly shown interest in one coach to be on their bench next season as an assistant.

What former Lakers' coach are these teams interested in?

NBA insider Marc Stein reported that the Knicks and Suns are two teams displaying interest in Bucks' assistant Darvin Ham.

Ham is currently under contract on the Bucks' coaching staff, but the Knicks and Suns would like to try and 'steal' Ham and add him to their coaching staffs.

Ham was the head coach of the Lakers from 2022-2024 and rejoined the Bucks as an assistant coach last season.

He has 14 years of NBA coaching experience, including stints as an assistant coach with the Lakers, Hawks and Bucks.

Ham was criticized for how he handled the Lakers during his time as a head coach there, which has slightly tarnished his reputation over the past couple of seasons.

He has had success as an assistant with teams before, so adding him to the Suns or even a Knicks team that is likely a contender next year could be a huge upgrade for each staff.
