Kevin Durant trade rumors tracker: Latest news as the star forward is traded to the Rockets image

The Suns are approaching a full-on rebuild. They tried the super team angle, and it didn't amount to anything. Phoenix is expected to lean into a full reset with a new head coach and with stars Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal likely to be on the move.

Durant has been in the league since 2007 when he was drafted with the second overall pick by the Thunder (then SuperSonics). Over the last 18 seasons, he has played for the Thunder, Warriors, Nets and Suns. Durant joined Phoenix in 2023 when he was traded from Brooklyn with T.J. Warren for Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, four unprotected first-round picks, and a 2028 first-round pick swap.

Durant surpassed the 30,000 career points mark on February 11, 2025. Even though he will turn 37 years old ahead of the 2025-26 season, he is expected to retain trade value still and make a difference wherever he lands.

Kevin Durant is a Houston Rocket

Charania reports that Durant is heading to Houston in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and five second round picks.

Rockets have offered No. 10 in the 2025 NBA Draft and more for Durant

Siegel is reporting that the Rockets have offered a deal to Phoenix that includes the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and Jalen Green. Houston is apparently not willing to offer players like Jabari Smith Jr., Tari Eason or Reed Sheppard who Phoenix has shown interest in.

Heat could be close to acquiring Durant

Siegel reported that the Heat are close to acquiring Durant. He thinks that if Miami were to offer up Kel'el Ware, then the deal would get done. Siegel said that Ware is who Phoenix wants in the discussions between the teams.

Suns are 'one or two pieces away' from trading Durant

Charania appeared on the Pat McAfee show on Thursday. He said that Phoenix has a "price threshold" that they are trying to maintain and it feels like negotiations have developed into a "game of chicken." Charania explained that it feels like if the Rockets, Heat or Timberwolves were to tweak one or two pieces of their Durant offer that a deal would be done.

Charania also said that Durant has leverage with just one year left on his deal and he still prefers the Spurs, Heat or Rockets.

Minnesota 'should be considered a dark-horse candidate'

While Durant is reportedly not interested in being traded to the Timberwolves, the franchise still has an opportunity to make a deal happen.

Amick and Krawczynski report that trade offers from the Spurs, Rockets and Heat "are coming up short" and the "Suns are still hopeful that Durant might warm up to the Timberwolves possibility," suggesting Minnesota may be capable of putting together the best trade package.

Rockets have made 'firm' offer for KD, but Suns 'underwhelmed'

The Athletic reports that the Houston Rockets have made a "firm offer" for Kevin Durant, but it's an offer that the Suns find underwhelming. Houston is one of the few destinations that Durant is known to have a preference for.

The story also added that the Timberwolves could re-emerge in the KD sweepstakes in the coming days, and the Suns are "hopeful" that Durant will warm up to the thought of joining Minnesota with other offers not up to their standards so far. Phoenix has made it clear that it will prioritize the package it will get in return for Durant, rather than sending him to a preferred destination.

Durant not interested in Timberwolves

Charania reports Durant has "no desire" to play in Minnesota, despite rumors that the Timberwolves may explore a potential trade. While that won't necessarily rule the Timberwolves out, it may impact whether Minnesota aggressively pursues the deal.

Suns tell teams it will make best deal for the franchise

Durant shortened his list to three teams - the Heat, Spurs, or Rockets. Charania is reporting that Phoenix has told six-to-eight "seriously interested" teams that it will make the best deal for the franchise, even if the team falls out of Durant's preferences.

Durant narrows preferred trade destinations to three teams

Teams across the NBA have been informed that Durant is willing to sign a long-term deal with three teams. The star forward prefers to land with the Spurs, Heat or Rockets.

Durant deal 'could happen in the next few days'

During a Friday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," Shams Charania provided the latest on a KD deal, saying that there's a chance a deal happens in the "next few days."

"There is some serious traction on conversation, on trade scenarios, with the Suns. They've had about six-to-eight teams reach out," Charania said. "There's been interest, there's been some offers, there's been some negotiations."

Charania also listed three teams that have especially been in the focus over the last two days: the Rockets, Heat and Timberwolves.

"Those are the three teams right now where a lot of the focus for Durant lies," Charania said.

Teams are 'motivated to get a deal done sooner rather than later'

Trade talks involving Durant are "gaining traction," per Charania, with teams "motivated" to get a deal done imminently. The Suns are most focused on dealings with the Rockets, Timberwolves, Spurs, Knicks, and Heat, though there are "wild card suitors."

Kevin Durant's business partner exploring trades with four teams

The Suns are officially shopping Durant around. Phoenix is working with Durant's business partner, Rich Kleiman, to find a deal. Charania reports that they have had talks with the Rockets, Spurs, Timberwolves, Heat and Knicks.

Kevin Durant expected to sign massive two-year extension wherever he lands

The expectation is that when Durant is traded, he will sign a two-year, $120 million extension. That factor will definitely play a part in discussions. The forward is set to make $54.7 million in the 2025-26 season, and then the projected extension would give him $57.3 million for the 2026-27 season and $62.7 million in 2027-28.

Could a deal for Durant already be done?

The NBA is currently in the midst of the 2025 NBA Finals between the Thunder and the Pacers. NBA analyst Bill Simmons has an interesting theory. He thinks that the NBA doesn't want to take away from its Finals that is already featuring two mid-market teams, and that the deal for Durant to the Spurs is already done.

Durant expected to have four-to-six teams interested

Phoenix hired former Cavaliers assistant head coach Jordan Ott as its new head coach. Charania reported that Devin Booker played a big part in the selection, suggesting he will be retained. The ESPN analyst also said that Durant is expected to have four to six teams interested.
