NBA trades that have taken place over the last few weeks have started to be reported as official, but one trade had an abnormal amount of time go by with no update.
The Celtics have been active this offseason already, including trading away Jrue Holiday to the Trail Blazers.
On Monday, we were given a shocking update about the trade from an insider.

What was the update on the original trade?
Trail Blazers writer Aaron J. Fentress reported that the original trade was changed, as it's now a straight player swap of Holiday and Simons with no additional draft compensation headed to Boston.
Fentress said the reasoning was "According to the source, a recent review of Holiday’s medicals revealed nothing substantial enough to warrant the trade being negated. However, there was enough there to lead the Blazers to slightly alter the terms of the deal."
Holiday dealt with a hamstring injury during the playoffs that could have contributed to the findings.

It was odd that there weren't updates on the deal being official before this news.
This isn't the first time a situation has happened like this to Boston, as the Celtics' original trade for Kristaps Porzingis a couple of years ago didn't go through, after the Clippers weren't satisfied with the health of Malcolm Brogdon.
Even though the Celtics aren't getting picks in return, the original player swap will still happen, despite the health findings on Holiday.
