The 2022-23 G League season is going to be a special one, and it all starts with the G League Draft.

The 2022 G League Draft is set to take place on Saturday, Oct. 22, effectively kicking off the new G League season.

For the first time in G League history, there will be 30 teams competing in a full 32-game schedule, which is set to tip off on Nov. 4. Although not all 30 NBA teams have a G League affiliate — the Suns and Trail Blazers being the outliers — the G League Ignite and Mexico City Capitanes are joining the G to round out 30 teams competing for the 2023 NBA G League championship.

When is the G League Draft?

  • Date: Saturday, Oct. 22
  • Time: 1 p.m. ET

The 2022 NBA G League Draft is set for Saturday, Oct. 22 at 1 p.m. ET. The Cleveland Charge  — the G League affiliate of the Cavaliers — will have the No. 1 overall pick.

Who are the best players in the G League Draft?

As NBA Insider Marc Stein reported, there are a handful of names worth noting in this year's G League Draft.

Norris Cole: Cole is a former two-time NBA champion with the Miami Heat, playing a key role off the bench alongside LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

Remy Martin: Martin was a standout transfer for Kansas last season, helping lead the Jayhawks to the 2022 NCAA National Championship.

Daniel Orton: Orton is a former first-round pick out of Kentucky. He has three years of NBA experience under his belt.

Vander Blue: Blue is a former G League standout, averaging 26.3 points per game for the then-Los Angeles D-Fenders from 2015 to 2017.

How many teams are in the G League?

There will be 30 teams competing in the G League for the first time ever this season.

Twenty-eight NBA teams have a G League affiliate, and there are two new teams competing in the G League for the first time.

The G League Ignite development program will play a full G League season, previously only competing in exhibition games and showcase tournaments to provide a platform for the team's top prospects to shine.

The Mexico City Capitanes, who strictly played in exhibition games last season, will also take part in the full G League schedule.
