The New York Knicks enter this season with one of the deepest rosters in the NBA. However, they could trade away some of their younger pieces before the season begins.
According to Steve Popper of Newsday, guard Tyler Kolek, and forward Pacome Dadiet have been garnering interest around the league in trade discussions. Both players are entering their second year in the NBA, as both were drafted by the Knicks in the 2024 NBA Draft.
In limited action last season, Dadiet averaged 1.7 points per game in 18 appearances, and Kolek averaged 2.0 points and 1.7 assists per game in 41 appearances. Neither player is expected to crack Mike Brown’s rotation in 2026, leaving many to think that one of — if not both of them — will be traded.
If they are traded, it will likely be for draft capital given the fact that neither player is a proven NBA asset up to this point.
Rumors have also swirled regarding backup guard Miles McBride, but as of now it appears unlikely that the Knicks’ sixth man will be traded, especially in light of Malcolm Brogdon’s sudden retirement.
The Knicks also have veterans Landry Shamet, Garrison Mathews, and Trey Jemison III competing for the remaining roster spots, and with time running out for the Knicks to finalize their roster, one of Kolek or Dadiet could be traded sooner rather than later.
