When New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is healthy, there aren’t many more centers who provide a larger impact in the NBA.
Robinson has appeared in just three games this season, but the Knicks are 2-1 in those games. Wednesday’s performance against the Minnesota Timberwolves was perhaps his best of the season so far. Robinson scored eight points, grabbed 10 rebounds (9 offensive), and blocked three shots. After looking a little sluggish coming out of the gate, Robinson looks healthy, and just as dominant as he’s been in the past.
When on the court, Robinson is one of the league’s finest rim protectors and offensive rebounders. Injuries have bedeviled him in recent years, but the Knicks are being extra precautious this season to ensure he stays healthy. Robinson hasn’t appeared in more than 31 games since 2022-23, and hasn’t appeared in at least 60 since 2021-22.
After the game, OG Anunoby spoke highly of Robinson’s impact.
“I knew before I got here that Mitch was special,” Anunoby said. “And just seeing him every day, it's amazing. No one can do what he does.”
Robinson will now aim to continue his recent dominance throughout the season. He figures to be an important piece to a Knicks team that is aiming to snap a 52-year title drought in 2026.
