The New York Knicks picked up their first win in the Mike Brown head coaching era on Wednesday, beating the Cleveland Cavaliers 119-111 in their first game of the season.

Things are already vastly different than last season. The Knicks were 0-10 against the league’s top three teams last season — including the Cavaliers — and have already picked up a win over one of those same opponents in just their first game. Additionally, 11 players saw action in the season opener.

Brown remaining level-headed after first Knicks win

After the game, Brown spoke with reporters about the win, while also remaining level-headed, and not getting too excited after the first game of the season.

“Our expectations are extremely high, but we're not going to get ahead of ourselves. Whether we won or lost, it's one game, and we feel like as the season goes along, we're going to get better,” Brown said. “We won the game and we had some good moments, but we don't feel like we're anywhere near what we're capable of. That's what makes it exciting. Everybody has expectations. I don't know if their expectations are any higher than everybody in that locker room. We're good with that. We embrace that.”

Brown will look to keep the momentum going into Friday when the Knicks take on the Boston Celtics for a playoff rematch. The Celtics are a much different team than the version the Knicks saw back in May, so they’ll look to take advantage and secure their second win of the young season.
