New York Knicks forward Josh Hart has been known to get into it with refs on the basketball court from time to time, a tradition that has now taken shape in his baseball fandom.
Hart, who has made his New York Yankees fandom evident since landing with the Knicks a couple of years ago, tweeted out a response to the Yankees’ 8-7 loss to the Houston Astros, where home plate umpire Brian Walsh missed several calls late in the game.
“That Ump needs to be suspended. He’s trash,” Hart tweeted.
Hart has shown his Yankees fandom since joining the Knicks
Of course, a little bit of bias is coming into play with this statement. Hart and the Yankees have been connected since Hart arrived with the Knicks during the 2022-23 season. Last September, Hart threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium, and the Knicks forward is constantly active on social media commenting while the Yankees play.
As mentioned earlier, Hart has a bit of a reputation for his aggression towards referees — no matter the sport. Since joining the Knicks, Hart has accumulated 21 technical fouls, and been ejected four times. Last season, Hart had eight technical fouls, and was tossed from the game once.
Hart and the Knicks will try to temper their animosity towards the officials, and focus on competing for a title next season. The Knicks enter this upcoming season as a favorite to take the Eastern Conference title after reaching the conference finals last season.
