As the Timberwolves fought to even the second-round series against the Warriors, they got a scare involving their best player.

Anthony Edwards went down with an injury late in the first half as Minnesota took a double-digit lead over Golden State. The guard had to be helped to the locker room after suffering a left ankle sprain.

This was the second significant injury of the series as Warriors guard Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring strain in Game 1. The Timberwolves, who already lost home-court advantage, are playing a crucial second game to avoid a two-game hole.

Luckily for Minnesota, Edwards' injury wasn't as serious as it appeared as the team beat the Warriors 117-93 to tie the series at two games each. Here's the latest on Edwards' injury.

Anthony Edwards injury update

Edwards appeared to get injured when Warriors forward Trayce Jackson-Davis landed on his left leg during a play. It initially didn't appear that Edwards was hurt before the TNT broadcast showed Edwards down and holding his left leg.

Edwards needed to be helped off the court and into the locker room as he struggled to put weight on his left leg.

Shortly before halftime, it was reported that Edwards is "questionable" to return with the left ankle sprain. However, before the second half began, Edwards came out on the court for warmups and started the third quarter for the Timberwolves with Minnesota already up 17.

After the game, Timberwolves head coach acknowledged he was worried about Edwards and was thankful the guard was able to return.

"I was really worried about it actually." he said. "This one I was really planning on not seeing him the rest of the game."

Edwards himself added that he felt this injury was different than most in his career but he is doing ok now.

"Yeah that one was bad," he said. "But I'll but alright."

Edwards played in 79 games this year and missed just nine games over the past three seasons combined.
