The Miami Heat seemingly avoided a disastrous scenario regarding center Bam Adebayo, who left yesterday’s contest against the Denver Nuggets early with a foot injury.
The Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman reported that Adebayo’s MRI on Thursday revealed a left big toe sprain; he'll be held out of Friday’s game against the Charlotte Hornets, but remains day-to-day.
The news comes as a bit of a sigh of relief for the Heat, as Adebayo exited yesterday’s game after seemingly injuring his foot/ankle on a non-contact play. Adebayo has gotten off to a strong start to the season, averaging 19.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game so far.
The Heat are already dealing with a long-term ankle injury to Tyler Herro, which has kept him out to start the season. Despite that, the Heat are still 4-4 through the team’s first eight games.
With Adebayo out, it could mean more minutes for Kel’el Ware, Keshad Johnson, and two-way center Vlad Goldin. Per the Miami Herald’s Anthony Chiang, Goldin is already on his way to Miami, and is probable for Friday’s game.
