What seems like many years ago now, there was a ton of hype surrounding the arrival of center Mo Bamba in the league.

Bamba, who was one of the top high school players in his grade class and was selected in the lottery by the Orlando Magic, has unfortunately bounced around the league a bit over the past few years. He's appeared in games with the Magic, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, and most recently, the New Orleans Pelicans.

As a youngster looks to find another job around the league, SB Nation recently proposed the idea of the New York Knicks signing him. They added that the New York native could return home, and it's possible that he could fill some roles for the next.

“Is this finally the year that the New York native comes home? After years of rumors, Bamba appears to be on the periphery of the league without a concrete path forward.

“The Harlem product played just 32 games with the Clippers and Pelicans in 2024-25 and appears to be at the point in his career where he’d accept being a depth piece. With the injury histories of Karl-Anthony Towns, Mitchell Robinson, and even Ariel Hukporti, he could find a way to crack the rotation at various points in the season with his strong rim protection and solid offensive game (for a big),” they wrote.

As SB Nation touched on, the injuries the Knicks have faced, mainly to Mitchell Robinson, adding a player like Bamba has its benefits.

He's only averaged 6.7 points and has played in 16.8 minutes per game throughout his 365-game career, but he's been decent for parts of it, shooting 47.7% from the field and 35.6% from 3-point range.
