He went to the Barclays Center anyway to watch the 30 picks on Wednesday night in the first round.
And just before the night was up, the Los Angeles Clippers took Niederhauser at No. 30.
He's the first Penn State first-round pick ever.

Where is Yanic Konan Niederhauser from?
Yanic Konan Niederhauser was born in Fraschels, Switzerland.
He played professional basketball for Ehingen Urspring in Germany before coming to the United States.
Niederhauser began his college career at Northern Illinois, where he played for two seasons.
Then he transferred for a final college season at Penn State.

How tall is Yanic Konan Niederhauser?
Yanic Konan Niederhauser is 7-feet tall and is an imposing rim presence.
He averaged 2.3 blocks per game in his lone season at Penn State.
He also put up 12.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 61 percent from the field.
Niederhauser should enter the NBA as a strong backup to Ivica Zubac on the Clippers' center depth chart.
