The Houston Rockets suffered a rather embarrassing run of defeats in December, including a 128-108 defeat against the struggling Los Angeles Clippers. However, Houston has been able to string four wins in a row and put that tough stretch behind them, and Tari Eason, who recently returned from injury, is a big reason why.
Eason has provided a spark to the Rockets’ starting lineup.
Tari Eason was one of the starters for the Rockets in their recent encounter with the Brooklyn Nets. In 22 minutes, he notched 15 points, nine rebounds, one steal, and one block. He made six out of his seven total shots, and was perfect from beyond the three-point line, hitting both of his attempts from long range.

Eason has been considered as a high-motor bench option for the majority of his career, and he’s been very successful in that role. This season, Houston have had to navigate life without Fred VanVleet, meaning that they’re still figuring out what starting combinations produce the best results. Eason’s aggressive style of play has jolted the Rockets towards better results, even if he is still a bit undisciplined at times. If he can develop his mentality and continue to provide energy on the court, then his spot in the starting lineup could be safe for a while.
