It doesn't seem like Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors are in a good spot. The harsh reality of the situation is that Kuminga wants to be paid like a star, and the Warriors never gave him an opportunity to prove if he can be that.

It's a challenging situation for both sides, but ultimately, there isn't much Kuminga can do. The Warriors have to worry about this situation for a few different reasons, but Golden State is in a much better position than the youngster.

However, the Warriors' issue is that they haven't been able to sign other players. According to Brett Siegel of Clutch Points, the Warriors aren’t in the best spot because of their inability to sign players like De'Anthony Melton and Al Horford in free agency because of Kuminga.

“If a sign-and-trade is truly off the table and there is no path to escaping a Golden State return this offseason, then Kuminga might as well take the money, make the most of his opportunity, and work with the Dubs' front office on securing a trade before February's trade deadline.

“The Warriors want this matter resolved as soon as possible and believe their two-year offer is the only conclusion. Until then, other moves like bringing back De'Anthony Melton and signing Al Horford remain in limbo,”  he wrote.

Horford and Melton would be great additions for the Warriors at this stage of the offseason, with many around the NBA expecting both of them to be on the roster sometime in the near future. The Warriors already saw what they have with Melton, and as Horford has shown with the Boston Celtics over the past few years, he still has something left in the tank.
