Stephen Curry has been the face of the Golden State Warriors for nearly two decades, and that might not change in the near future.
Over the past several years, the Warriors have struggled to find some of the magic that led to their dynasty in the late 2010s. While the team had one final run to the title in 2022, the Warriors simply haven’t found consistency around Curry in the years since Kevin Durant departed in 2019.
That might finally be changing next season. At the trade deadline last season, the Warriors acquired Jimmy Butler, giving Curry his first legitimate co-star since Durant’s departure, and it has also set up the Warriors to potentially compete with some of the top teams in the West.
Everything still revolves around Steph
While the Warriors have added some more star talent in Butler, their hopes of winning a title or even being considered a contender will still depend entirely on Curry. Of course, with Curry entering the final stage of his career, his longevity is still uncertain.
However, Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes clearly isn’t all that concerned about Curry’s potential decline. In a recent article, Hughes predicted every team’s best player in three years, giving Curry the nod for Golden State.
While Hughes noted that Curry’s future in the league is uncertain, he would probably still be Golden State’s top player if he’s in town in 2028. Considering the Warriors don’t have any intriguing young talents and Curry is still an All-NBA player, he’s still the clear pick to lead the Warriors in three years.
