Pierce was arrested late Tuesday night in Southern California after police found him asleep at the wheel in a lane of traffic on the 101 Freeway, TMZ reported.

Lanes on the freeway had been closed due to a crash, but Pierce was found asleep after the lanes reopened and his vehicle did not move.

After observing signs of impairment, police arrested Pierce on a charge of suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Pierce was "cited and released from custody," according to Los Angeles' local NBC affiliate.

Pierce has not yet commented on his arrest, but he has been active on social media, posting a video of himself on the sideline of a basketball court Thursday.
