The Celtics have made a bevy of moves this off-season to ease their salary cap restrictions, including cutting ties with household names like Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Luke Kornet.
Rumors involving just about every player except superstar Jayson Tatum have swarmed, and Derrick White has been no exception. However, with the major moves already made, it seems quite unlikely White will be moved anytime soon.
White appeared on NBC Sports Boston's Celtics Talk Podcast and sounded off on what those trade rumors felt like for him in the moment.
"Every summer is pretty crazy, especially nowadays, but I didn't feel too worried about anything," White said. "My agent and [President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens] have been talking, and all the other rumors and stuff, I wasn't really too worried about. I feel like it's cool to be wanted by other teams, but I wanted to stay in Boston, and I was glad they wanted to keep me."
White also confessed that seeing those Holiday, Porzingis, and Kornet go was a tough experience for him.
"It's always tough to see guys leave, especially people that you won a championship with and had so many great battles with. Obviously, seeing KP and Jrue get traded was tough to see, and then Luke signs somewhere else. Having a different team, and having those guys leave, is kind of difficult. But it's part of the business."
White and the Celtics will look to navigate a new world without many of the teammates from the 2024 NBA Championship run.
