The San Francisco Giants decided to fire manager Bob Melvin after two seasons with the team. San Francisco missed the playoffs once again.

They have not made the playoffs since the 2021 season where they had a 107-55 record and finished in first place in the National League West. The Giants finished with an 81-81 record this season and Melvin had a 161-163 record in his two seasons as manager. Will San Francisco turn to a familiar face to be the manager in 2026 and beyond?

MLB Insider Hints at Potential Bruce Bochy and San Francisco Giants Reunion

With San Francisco needing a new manager for the 2026 season and beyond, there are some potential candidates that would be a good fit. Well, Bruce Bochy was a manager for the Giants once before from 2007-2019. He won three World Series with the team in 2010, 2012, and 2014.

Bob Nightengale of the USA Today said about a possible Bochy and San Francisco reunion this offseason,

"It will be fascinating to see now if Buster Posey gets the band together and tries to lure Bruce Bochy back to San Francisco."

Posey is in the Giants front office. He was the starting catcher during the World Series years with this organization. If they do bring back Bochy, it probably will be no longer than a three-year deal. Bochy's contract with the Texas Rangers expires and it is unknown if he will return to Texas.

He won it all with the Rangers in 2023 against the Arizona Diamondbacks in five games. Bochy is 70 years old. If San Francisco does bring him back, there is no doubt that this franchise will be in win-now mode. This team does have talent on the roster. What they are missing is a manager to get them back to the playoffs and be contenders.
