With the New York Mets trailing 3-2 in the fourth inning, Juan Soto hit a grand slam off of Charlie Morton. In the game overall, he was 2-for-3 with one home run and six RBIs for the Mets.

With Soto's big performance, New York was able to win the game over the Detroit Tigers 10-8. The Mets improve to 74-64 on the season and the Tigers dropped to 80-59. Over the last month or so, Soto has been playing really well for this baseball team. It is also mind boggling that he was not an all-star in the first place.

MLB Analyst Believes That New York Mets Outfielder Juan Soto Is Primed for Massive September

Chris Young is an MLB analyst on MLB Network, and he has been talking about what Soto has done for the last month for the Mets. Young said about Soto,

"Y'all know what month it is? It's Soto September... he's about to take off and he's about to make everyone hush their mouths…"

Since August 1, Soto has a 1.074 OPS and was tied for the most stolen bases in the month of August with 11. In 136 games played for the Mets so far this season, he has a .257 batting average with 36 home runs and 90 RBIs, along 26 stolen bases and two caught stolen bases. His on-base percentage is .397.

With the Mets currently in a wild card spot right now, Soto is looking to carry this team into the playoffs and stay hot as the month of October approaches. He got off to a slow start during the season. Now, it appears as if he is comfortable with the Mets organization and looks to be a major force down the stretch. A big September for Soto could potentially get him into the National League MVP conversation as well.
