Yankees All-Star pitcher receives bad prediction regarding postseason image

The New York Yankees' 2025 season hasn't exactly been perfect, but the team is still very much in contention to defend their American League Championship from last year.

The quad of MVPs on the team consisting of Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, Giancarlo Stanton, and Paul Goldschmidt have been nothing short of phenomenal and will be vital to the team's success as they look to capture championship number 28.

This bullpen arm, however, isn't as high on that pedestal.

Paul Blackburn predicted to miss Yankees' postseason team

When the postseason arrives, the 53-man roster is chopped in half to just 26 players, and according to Chris Landers of FanSided, relief pitcher Paul Blackburn is not projected to make that cut.

An All-Star in 2022 with the Athletics, Blackburn signed onto the Yankees just two days after being released by the Mets, and with his combined ERA of 7.09, things are not looking good for the righty out of Antioch, CA.

Landers wrote that Blackburn is the man to cut, instead of infielder Anthony Volpe or another reliever in Devin Williams.

"We're sure Yankees fans would love to see Anthony Volpe or Devin Williams listed here, but that simply isn't realistic; if New York were going to ditch either of them in October, they would've done so by now (and Williams has been better lately, for what it's worth). Instead, we'll turn to the back of the bullpen, where it seems as though Blackburn might be the odd man out," Landers wrote.

The Yankees are currently 3.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East standings and are 2.5 games above the cut line in the Wild Card race.
