The New York Mets entered the day needing a win and a Cincinnati Reds loss in order to make the playoffs. Well, manager Carlos Mendoza has had questionable managerial decisions all season long.
He decided to over manage the bullpen on Sunday against the Miami Marlins, and it led to four runs in the fourth inning for Miami. The Marlins took down the Mets by a final score of 4-0. With the loss, they are eliminated from playoff contention. This was another end to a disappointing season. There is a lot of blame to go around with this collapse, and it starts with manager Carlos Mendoza.
New York Mets Fans Want Manager Carlos Mendoza Fired
There are a lot of Mets fans who are upset about what transpired over the last three months of the season. They had a 45-24 record and finished with an 83-79 record and missed the playoffs. Even with it being his second season as manager and leading them to the NLCS last season, there are fans who want the Mets to make a change at manager.
Carlos Mendoza should fired. 0-70 when trailing after 8 is inexcusable. You win just of those games and you’re in. Dude is bad manager. Zero situational awareness and terrible bullpen management and can’t motivate his players. He should be gone immediately.

I need Carlos Mendoza gone. A must-win game and he didn’t even have a game plan of who to pitch? No pinch hitting? The guy has made the worst decisions for 2 years straight and I’m sick of it.

If the Mets want to Win they need to FIRE Carlos Mendoza. He couldn't motivate the team last year when they slumped in May-June. JD Martinez telling Iglesias to play OMG in clubhouse ignited the Mets. This year Mendoza AGAIN could not get this offense going. #FireMendoza

The Mets were 0-70 this season when trailing after eight innings. This was a team that showed no guts when trailing. There will be a lot of questions this offseason starting with the manager. Is there a chance that David Stearns will also be shown the door too after another New York collapse? The blame should fall on Stearns more than Mendoza, but someone is going to be the fall guy for this collapse.
